It's a String Thing, Scrap Quilts

Just a quick pop in here.  Today is a fun day.  Everything is back to "normal" and the to do list is long, but Sherri at  http://www.aquiltinglife.com/ is having a link up about a growing interest I have, scrap quilts! Find it here

I have been making scrap quilts for several years, but they do not always take top priority, that needs to change because my scrap bag is overflowing!  Here is a string quilt I made a while back.

I think it is the 4th or 5th string quilt that I have made.  This quilt also has trims, lace and even a bit of Rick Rack in it, just bits of this and that.  I make the most wonderful mess when working on one of these quilts and the mess is quite easy to clean up, just stuff all the extra pieces back in the scrap bag.  And the economic gratification-I feel I am making something for free, just scraps that I might have thrown away.

Also, here is a Go To Quilt, when a baby/toddler quilt is needed.

Just squares, the bigger the squares, the bigger the quilt, often left over from other projects, a bit of sashing, more squares and quilting.  It is fast! One fun addition to this quilt is to add blocks with embroidery, make pieced blocks to add from the smaller bits, add a bit of applique or stitch the name or sweet sentiment, but that is an other subject to be explored soon.(Subscribe above and you won't miss it, I'm having fun in the lab with embroidery, applique alternate blocks and little of wonderfulness.)

See  you tomorrow for our giveaway!
